Darko's knuckle-nut agent blasted Otis Smith and the Magic organization in the Orlando Sentinel. "Cornstein blasted Smith for being a "liar." He called Smith's handling of his client "deceitful, disrespectful and a disgrace." Cornhole continues by saying, "I think it is unfortunate how dishonest and deceitful Otis Smith and the Orlando Magic have been in the process." For once, someone other than the Orlando Magic ownership is the idiot.
Well congratulations to the Orlando Magic. You're finally conducting yourselves like true businessmen if you have some smug agent calling you names and threatening that his player will never play in your uniform ever again. I just hope this time next week that same asshole has to crawl back to the Magic because no one can offer Darko more than the MLE.
Darko is at the same point in his career that he was last summer. To get paid, you have to play. And son, you haven't even begun to play. I guess we'll see how this all unfolds over the next few days - but I don't anyone in their right mind would give Darko $10 million a year. And this crazy talk that we gave up a first round pick for Darko just to let him walk is stupid. We unloaded Kelvin Cato during a time when we really needed to. And we still have Arroyo, who by the way, plays harder than most of the guys in the league. If Arroyo is still with the Magic come game 1, you can bet he will look good under Van Gundy. But the talk that we gave the #15 pick in this years draft - who cares. We probably would not be in the position we are now to sign Rashard Lewis. We can hypotethically talk about Cato's contract coming off, etc. etc. But we all know the Magic would have knee jerked with all the losing last summer and brought in some other overpaid player that would have ruined our free agency this summer.
Thank you very much, I like how this team is shaping up. And if I had to guess, we're about to see a few more strategic changes to the personnel. Still not enough to get me to buy season tickets this year, but even I have to admit the Magic are headed in a good direction. I'd pay to see Dwight and Rashard play at least a couple times next year.
