Magic vs Chicago

After an impressive win against the Bucks, the Magic lay an egg on national TV against the Chicago Bulls. The Bulls win by 24 points, 100-76. The Magic big men were virtually non-existent after coming up big in the previous two matchups against the Bulls. The entire team seemed to be off tonight. Having Grant Hill in and out of the lineup has not helped this team in the last few weeks. I said in the beginning of the season that Hill should be coming off the bench. Tonight, he finally did but was a non-factor in 28 minutes.

Although Dwight Howard finished with 17 points and 14 rebounds, none of his production came during the time of the game when it still mattered. I'm not even sure Darko Milicic was even involved in the game from the very beginning. Which is why I will go on record now that the Magic should not offer Darko major money that would affect bringing a top name scorer during the summer. Vince Carter, Rashard Lewis and even Chauncey Billups will have choices to make in the off season. The Magic need to be wize about the needs of this team. Hedo Turkoglu is not getting the job done this year and his replacements have not been consistent. Speaking of Turkoglu, he went out in the first half with an injury (turns out to be broken nose).

About the only two untouchables on this team right now are Howard and Trevor Ariza. I would list J.J. Redick in this group as a solid off-the-bench three point threat, but with Coach Hill - I don't think Redick will ever get consistent time.
