Magic fans fading

The current state of the Magic is no doubt discouraging. About the only thing going for the Magic is the involvement of the team in the community. How do the fans feel? Well, for starters, there are a ton of people pissed at Brian Hill and the way he has handled this team. How can a coach keep starting the same players and keeping the same rotation during this horrid stretch of games? There are two consistent players on this team right now, Dwight Howard and Trevor Ariza. However, there is no leadership on this team - not from the coach, management or the players. Everyone is running around trying to do their own thing and have fun. The problem is, losing is not fun. Not for the players and certainly not for the fans.

One sign to me that fan loyalty is starting to cave is the traffic to this site. We've had coaching problems in the past. There have been disgruntled stars to give up on the team before. And the management, well, the only good thing we can say is that they have been consistently bad the last few years. Regardless of the lows or highs, the fans still come to this site to read my opinions, find out the recent news and comment on how they feel. Until now. The traffic on the site has been declining lately. There are a few less RSS subscribers and a few less clickthroughs. Heck, even the frequency of my postings has slowed in the last couple weeks.

Why? Energy. Dedication. Excitement. I've said it a thousand times before. I don't care if this team were to lose every game the rest of the year so long as they play hard. We're just not seeing that from this team, for whatever reason. So, I find myself putting as much time into the Magic as they put into me and all the other loyal Magic fans. The fans have have been around a long time and we have cheered for this team during some of the worst of times. The fans have never quit on this team regardless of the circumstances. The Magic are still our team!

The loyalty to this Magic team is declining. I, like many others, watch every game and attend many in person. Why should I keep putting in the time to support a team that has given up on the coach and the fans? I will always complain about missed free throws, turnovers and missed screens. That's why I started this site - because I can. I don't care how many people agree or disagree with me, but I publish every single comment that comes through. I like discussing the Magic with anyone and everyone. But the time has come for the Magic organization to give back to the fans. Give us something to look forward to. Otherwise, I'll find something else to fill my time and spend my money on.
