A steal. Two free throws. A layup off an inbounds pass from Hedo Turkoglu with .3 seconds remaining on the clock. What a great finish to a sloppy game for Grant Hill. The Magic squeak out another win, this time against the Blazers, 91-89. Looking at the box score, I'm not sure how Hill finished with 16 points - but the last four won this game. The call from Brian Hill out of the timeout with 1.2 seconds left on the clock was proof enough that he deserved coach of the month honors.
The Magic seemed a little relaxed in this game. I don't feel the defensive intensity was like it has been the last few games. Jameer Nelson was practically non-existent - so hopefully he bounces back big time in the next game. Dwight Howard finished with 18 points, 16 rebounds and 4 blocked shots. Howard had a hard time getting to the free throw line like he normally does. Portland did a decent job of clogging up the lane and keeping Howard away from the basket. Howard still managed a couple nasty dunks, one off a missed shot and another on a spin move.
The rest of the team did just enough to get the win tonight. Turnovers (14) were down. Assists (22) were up. This was a good win tonight. One last note, Turkoglu had a decent night. He was mostly quite but managed a few points. I'm still waiting for his breakout game. Unfortunately, I think it's going to happen when he comes off the bench. He just doesn't look comfortable on the floor with Grant Hill.
