Magic at Seattle

Another road game, another victory for the Orlando Magic. The Magic came out a little flat in the first quarter and got behind early however, they finish the game strong and beat the Seattle SuperSonics, 94-84. Man am I proud of these guys. I noticed late last season that the team had a certain attitude late in games. This year, we are seeing a team that believe they can win any game. The entire team is playing well and staying healthy.

Dwight Howard kept the energy around the boards and the reserves were able to come in and keep the game close all night long. Darko Milicic hit a jumper to end the second quarter, tying the game. Darko finished with 14 points, 3 rebounds and 3 blocks in another solid game. Howard was the star of the night though, finishing with 24 points, 12 rebounds and 4 blocked shots.

Trevor Ariza, Carlos Arroyo and Keyon Dooling continue to be huge off the Magic bench. Ariza is improving every single game. I personally feel it might not be long (maybe next year) until he competes for a starting position. His athletic ability and nose for the ball are an interesting combination. I see a hybrid of Dennis Rodman and Tracy McGrady. That's just me though. The reserves actually outscored the starters tonight - 48 to 46 - and pounded the Sonics bench.

Turnovers are still a little high at 17 - but at least most of them come from hustle plays. A lot of the bone headed throwaways are decreasing. The 21 assits make up for the extra turnovers. If there is only one negative thing that I can really say about this team so far this season - it's been the lack of assists. Some nights they are pretty good - but some nights we're down in the 14-15 range.

Anyhow, the Magic win another big game on the road. Fans are happy. Message boards are active. Media is almost ready to give them the credit they deserve. Go MAGIC!!!
