The Magic played a great first half against the San Antonio Spurs, but laid an egg in the second half. Magic drop their fourth in a row, losing to San Antonio 110-85. I felt the Magic came out flat in the third and gave up in the fourth. With Steve Francis out, the Magic look lost on offense. Jameer Nelson has been up and down in games, but ends up with 20 points and only 2 turnovers. Tony Battie and Dwight Howard are playing with about half the energy they were playing with during the short winning streak.
Howard finishes with a double-double, but he rushed his shots against Tim Duncan. Howard finished 4-18; recording 13 points and 15 rebounds. The bench had a below average night, combining for 20 points and 9 rebounds. Against the world champs, a team has to bring more than that.
Magic give up a lot of easy baskets towards the end of the game and give up. Losing by 25 at home, ridiculous.
One thing I have noticed all year long is the starters playing way too many minutes. I think Coach could play Kasun and Outlaw in the beginning of the 2nd and 4th quarters just to stretch a few minutes here and there. Both are high-energy players that have contributed significantly when given the chance. I'm trying not to second guess the decisions here, but I think there are one or two players on the bench that could play more than they have.
