Dave Twardzik and Otis Smith have been named as co-GM's for the Orlando Magic. Both have been in the Magic front office for the last three years and are former NBA players, with Smtih playing for the Magic in the franchise's early years. It is not yet known whether the two will be making decisions together, or if they will be handling different responsibilities.
Personally, I don't like the idea. Then again, I don't like the idea of having Brian Hill as our coach. I think the Magic are once again taking the cheap way out. That's not to say I won't be out there supporting the team like I do every year. Sheep do that kind of thing.
I may be totally wrong, and I hope I am, but I just don't expect much to happen with this style of management. Let's face it, all of us have worked for a company where the structure was not clearly defined. You're unclear as to who is calling the shots. Doc Rivers had a big enough problem with John Gabriel. Now, if Hill doesn't get his way - does he play the two against each other? I just cannot imagine anything good coming out of this scenario - unless you are Magic brass and consider a fat check from Kansas City.
