Things I would like to see

While our team is getting better, we still have a few small problems that need to be worked out. These are the things I would like to see happen. Don't take this for more than what it is. I am not bashing the coach or any of the players; I am just stating my observations. I love this team and I just want to see our effort maximized every night.

The Rotation

Our rotation of players is questionable. Until Pat Garrity starts knocking down some shots more consistently - Stacey Augmon or DeShawn Stevenson should see more playing time. Pat Garrity just cannot cover the perimeter players or defend in the post. If he isn't knocking down his shots - then we have to substitute for defense.

The Bench

Hedo Turkoglu absolutely needs to come off the bench - and he needs to be more consistent. We don't need 29 points from the Turk, we need 15-20 - every night from the bench. Turk provides energy in almost every game he plays. We need this energy off the bench. Moving the Turk back to the bench allows Doug Christie to start at shooting guard. Having Christie start the games and set the tone defensively will go a long way in preventing these 30+ point first quarters. We can?t expect to throw Christie or Augmon into the mix and start defending someone who already has their game on.

Down low

Absolutely, without a doubt - we have got to get Dwight Howard the ball more often. Lately, when he has received the ball down low, he has been uncomfortable with it. Get the rookie a few more touches and I guarantee we will not be disappointed. Howard needs in-game situations to work on his footwork and low post moves. With Howard more involved in the offense, the floor will open up more. Right now, teams are flooding the perimeter, making it difficult for Grant Hill and Steve Francis to create shots.

Moving the ball

The constant standing around in the half court offense just infuriates me. MOVE. Do jumping jacks or something. If you just stand there looking around, do you think the defensive player is going to magically move out of the way so you can get the ball. There should be at least 3-4 more passes on almost every possession. When the Magic are moving the ball well, they usually get wide open jump shots or slashing clear-cut paths to the basket.

Again, I'm not saying we are deficient or not playing hard in these areas. This is just a breakdown of things that I would like to see our team improve upon. Most of all, I am ready for the Dwight Howard breakout party. He's playing good, but I'm ready to start seeing his name everywhere. Let's go Magic!
