Game notes - Pacers

Huge win tonight against the Pacers. With this win, the Magic have beaten the Pacers twice at home this year.

In the first half, the Magic played aggressively and picked up the lead early and took an eleven point lead into halftime. Again with Turkoglu in the starting lineup, we got no point production from our bench. Our starters played big minutes tonight to pull out this win. Doug Christie saw his first minutes as a Magic player and played very well for barely being introduced to the team. In the second half, Christie had a sweet no-look pass to Dwight Howard that got me up off my chair. The second half play was considerably slower than the first. The Magic showed a lot of promise on the defensive side by going 48 minutes with the Pacers.

A couple quick notes. One, with just a few seconds left and the Magic up by 3, why didn't the Magic put the Pacers on line immediately instead of risking a three point play. Dwight Howard, Steve Francis and Tony Battie fouled out of the game as the Magic were struggling to hold onto the lead late. Doug Christie was whistled for a foul on Reggie Miller shooting a 3 pointer with less than 10 seconds left. Although it was a bad call, Miller missed the first of three and the Magic still had a 1 point lead. Jameer Nelson was fouled on the inbounds play and missed both free throws at the other end. As the Pacers put the ball in play - it was tipped up enough to run down the game clock. Jamal Tinsley's banked 3 pointer at the buzzer did not count.

Yes, there was luck involved. Christie did not foul reggie, simple as that. Horrible call. Jameer choked, and we almost lost because of it.
