According to a report on ESPN.com this morning, charges have been filed against Stephen Jackson for his role in the incident last week. It's about time. I can tell you that if I fired a gun in my neighborhood - my butt would be in jail. I can't imagine what would happen if I did that around a night club.
I think everyone is overlooking the fact that he had a gun at a nightclub in the first place. Jackson is a disgrace to the sport. The Pacers should do the proper thing and release him from his contract. One, he should not have been at a nightclub during training camp. Two, he should not be carrying a gun. And three, he's already on probation. Do you know how hard it is for someone to get a respectable job if they are on probation or have been convicted of a crime? Yet, professional sports still pays their athletes ridiculous amounts of money even if they have been convicted of a crime. Maybe the crimes will get violent enough that eventually the NBA will step up and do something about guys like Jackson. What a great role model!!!
