The Orlando Magic signed Keith Bogans today. Bogans is a 6'5", 215 pound shooting guard known for his defensive toughness. The move by the Magic almost assures that we will not see DeShawn Stevenson in a Magic uniform next season. I do believe the Magic would have resigned Stevenson if he had not outpriced himself by asking for more than what he was already making.

Long-time readers might remember how high I was on Bogans when the Magic first acquired him and with how well he played for the Magic. In fact, I was quite upset when the Magic traded Bogans and kept DeShawn Stevenson. I thought Bogans was the better role player at the time - and I still do. However, towards the end of Johnny Davis' stint with the Magic - I also complained about letting Stevenson play more - because he's a starter.

With the drafting of J.J. Redick, the Magic were going to have a problem with Redick, Keyon Dooling and Stevenson at the shooting guard spot. Not to mention a guy name Grant Hill can also play that position. With Bogans, you are getting a solid bench player that is very professioanl and realistic when it comes to his role. You can expect that he understands where he fits into the Magic rotation.

I think this was a good, necessary move to allow the development of J.J. Redick. I like DeShawn. I wish he was still with the team. But this was a good business decision, for once. The only minor thing that concerns me is potential team chemistry. But we can just throw that G. Hill guy in at the starting shooting guard spot until Redick is ready. I heard he isn't all that bad a player.

I agree with everything you said, BUT your acting as if your 100% sure that GHill is guna play this season. I don't know about you, but I have to actually see Hill play to believe it. We've heard 'He seems healthier than ever and should be able to play this season' a million times. I'm glad he's doing better, but you just never know with him.

The Orlando Magic will be very happy with Keith Bogans. The Bobcats should have never let him get away from Charlotte for basically nothing.
