The Magic have already interviewed Chris Jent for the head coaching vacancy. Earlier this week, the Magic interviewed Eric Musselman for the position. Musselman is my 2nd choice behind Flip Saunders, but I think Saunders is a long shot. The Magic are also interviewing ex-coach Brian Hill later this week.
With Saunders' name being mentioned in just about head coaching rumor out there, I feel as if the Magic will hire Musselman by the third week of May. This would give Musselman plenty of time to get his staff assembled and ready for the upcoming draft and summer free agency market.
I think that bringing in Brian Hill for an interview, Jent is out of the running. The only reason Jent was in the mix was in case the Magic could not find anyone. Hill now fills that spot of "just-in-case".
There may be a few coaching shakeups still to come this summer, but I think the Magic will pull the trigger early and hire Musselman before another attractive opportunity opens up.
