Grant Hill wins NBA Sportsmanship Award

The NBA has announced that Grant Hill is the winner of the 2005 NBA Sportmanship Award. Hill is the ninth recipient of the award since its' inception in 1996. The Sportsmanship Award honors a player who exemplifies the ideals of sportsmanship on the court (ethical behavior, fair play and integrity.) The recipient is presented the Joe Dumars trophy.

The trophy is named after the former Detroit Piston All-Star guard Joe Dumars. This is a special award for Grant Hill. Each team nominates one of their own players. A panel then decides the six divisional winners. NBA players then vote for the overall winner. Grant Hill received 134 first place votes and 2,778 points overall.
