Last week I wrote about the power struggle the Magic went through. It's hard to imagine John Weisbrod would just quit on this team out of the blue. Now, the NY Daily News is reporting that Flip Saunders was locked up as the head coach until Rich DeVos decided he knew what was best for the team.

I have to say that I am all too familiar with the decision John Wesibrod had to make. Weisbrod did all this work, dirty work at that, to get the team turned around and headed into the right direction. The team was behind the man 100% and the salary cap was not going to be a problem they said.
Local news media and ESPN are reporting that Brian Hill will be named Head Coach of the Orlando Magic by tomorrow afternoon. It was noted that this decision will be a popular one among long time Magic fans.
What a way to wake up on a Monday morning. The rumor mill is running at full speed today. The lastest news has John Weisbrod stepping down as the Magic's GM. Of course, this fuels speculation as to who might be see as the next coach of the Orlando Magic.
The NBA has announced that Grant Hill is the winner of the 2005 NBA Sportmanship Award. Hill is the ninth recipient of the award since its' inception in 1996. The Sportsmanship Award honors a player who exemplifies the ideals of sportsmanship on the court (ethical behavior, fair play and integrity.) The recipient is presented the Joe Dumars trophy.
Today, Chris Jent notified the media today that the Magic have dropped his name out of the search for the head coaching position. I know most Magic fans were praying this would happen. I was fairly certain it would happen. There was just no way John Weisbrod could have made it through another season with another no-name head coach.
The Magic have already interviewed Chris Jent for the head coaching vacancy. Earlier this week, the Magic interviewed Eric Musselman for the position. Musselman is my 2nd choice behind Flip Saunders, but I think Saunders is a long shot. The Magic are also interviewing ex-coach Brian Hill later this week.
May has been a slow month so far. I don't typically watch other teams that often, but I have caught a few of the Heat games. Mostly because they are Florida's "other" team and Shaq plays for them. If the Heat don't go all the way this year, they are a lock for next year. Shaq has dropped a lot of weight; add another summer of training and the rest of league is in trouble.
