John Weisbrod is now saying that Doug Christie has come to him about bone spurs in his left ankle. Apparently, Christie has had problems for the last few games and now he will be placed on the injured list. Christie will be meeting with doctors this week to determine the severity of the injury. With Christie moving the injured list, Mario Kasun makes his way back on the active roster and Magic bench.
I would have to say this deal with Christie seems a bit lame to me. It was reported that he was unhappy, then called in sick to practice on Thursday and missed last nights game. He missed the team flight and was scheduled to make a commercial flight to New Jersey. According to Weisbrod, the two spoke today and decided it was best for Christie to be placed on the injured list and have what is now known as bone spurs examined by specialists.
It just seems to me that if you have an injury of this nature, you still show up to support your team. I have to say, even if it is bone spurs or whatever, I am very disappointed in the way this has been handled and with the lack of professionalism. We'll see what happens in the next couple weeks, but I have a feeling we may have seen Christies' last days in a Magic Uniform.
It's the Orlando Magic managment who should be ashamed. One of the star players for the Sacramento Kings one minute and a "bench boy" for the Magic next. Hmmm. How can they miss a player who averaged about 5 min. a game? Put him on the injured list and bow your Magic heads in shame.
