Dwight Howard's progress this year

Dwight Howard has looked spectacular at times this year. I get excited at the possibilites this kid brings to our team. Howard is quick, dynamic and he can make his free throws. However, with there are negatives in his game. At times, Howard has looked sluggish or out of it. I don't think this has anything to do with him as a player - but more likely frustation at his lack of inclusion in the offense.

The Magic should be including Howard more in the playset than what they are. He should be touching the ball at least every other time down the floor. It seems the approach is to let him play hard and grab whatever rebounds he can. Anything he gets on the offensive end comes from whatever he can cleanup off of missed shots. By including Howard in the offense more often, the Magic will see two immediate benefits. One, the opposing team will have to respect he is on the floor and guard him more cautiously. He will be able to draw attention from the power forward or center, freeing up the lane at times. Two, with hard work comes great rewards. Howard is a go-to type of guy. He can score and he can get a crowd into the game. The coaching staff should start looking at rewarding all the hard work he has put in this far, with a few more touches on the offensive end.

The thing we need from D12 is patience. The coaching staff?has to see the same things we do. Your time will come big guy. When you do get the ball, make smart decisions and pass out if the shot is not there. The progress has been nice so far this year. Now, we are ready for the next step. Let's see what our #1 pick can do next.
