Rumors are floating around about upcoming trades. Tomorrow, Donnell Harvey is expected to be traded to the Phoenix Suns for Robert Archibald and a 2nd round draft pick. The draft pick will go to Atlanta to satsify a previous trade - allowing the Magic to keep next years second round pick. I don't expect much to happen with Archibald - though I do expect another trade soon. With the addition of Archibald, we now have 4 centers on the team and none of them really producing what amounts to starting numbers. I like the promise in Z - so hopefull we keep him around.
From this fan, the members on the trade block are Hunter, Giricek, DeClercq, Howard, possibly Lue (or a combo of our multiple point guards for a wingman or point) and Archibald if he stays on the roster.
I would like to see us get a big man for whatever trade we do end up making. I think Strickland is doing a good job for us point for the time being. If we could drop some dead weight and maybe a Giricek and Howard for a center and someone else - I would be extremely happy.
Update:
Rumor has Archibald going to Toronto.
Keep the team the way it is. We are finally winning and against quality teams. If we trade giricek who is our shooter? Garrity is injured and T-mac sees constant double teams and he needs to kick it out to somebody. Just remember we are in the east and we dont need a great center. Declercq fills the job fine with a high shooting percentage and good post defense. What team would give away a decent center for a shooter and a power forward? We are not going to get anyone good and mine as well keep Howard and Giricek who are doing fine. Hunter and one of the point guards should be the only trades in consideration. We could get a wing man or defensive presence for those two. There are only a handful of decent centers in this league and none of those teams will give them up. The only thing I agree with is getting rid of the dead weight but only Hunter fulfills that. We have a cluster of point guards but Shammond Williams will be playing 2 guard from now on. That gets Bogans backing up Giricek and Tyronn backing up Strickland. It makes more sense because he is offensive minded. Now that we have archibald we can put him on the injured list and get Reece Gaines some playing time.
Robert Archibald....from the great University of Illinois. and the only NBA player to be born in Scotland. um...that's all I got on him. :)
I just wish orlando would give more playing time to Reece Gaines, the kid can't develop if he doesn't get a chance. He only gets time when the game is already decided. In my opinion he is a much better player than Keith Bogans. The only difference, Keith has gotten plenty of minutes, even when he shoots 3-15 or 3-10. Give Reece a chance. If you don't intend on trying to develop him or give him a chance be fair to the kid and trade him to a team that will.
Trades. The Orlando management have shown that they have NO idea what talent is! They have completely decimated this team. They only have ONE player worth keeping...of course McGRady. DeCercq...you call a ten year pro player unable to shoot from six inches away from the basket an offensive threat. Defense...the ability to foul within 30 seconds after being inserted into a game. Lue....Unable to run a fast break...unable to shoot...unable to penetrate...Thanks Doc....for nothing Gooden...get out of town if you don't want to even try. Magic are tragic thanks to Doc & Gabriel. Coach Johnny...nice guy, but get us a coach. I've watched 99% of Magic games since they came to Orlando, and it's tough to even watch anymore.
