I wanted to post something on Sunday about the possibility of Juwan signing with the Magic, but decided not to jynx the opportunity we had. I hope everyone else is as happy as I am to have a player like Juwan Howard on the team. I think the team is finally starting to take a little shape. Instead of focusing every year on what we could be, the Orlando Magic staff is finally looking at the pieces that we need to make the team work. Fundamentals first, then you can get crazy with your lineups. I think Juwan will be a great player on our team and will help Drew Gooden grow into an even better player. I also like the fact that we are able to sign guys that are respected in the league and spend a lot of time giving back to the community.

I hope Juwan can make an impact with the Magic, but who knows. He helped out the Nuggets, sure, but I think I could have made a difference there. :-) Also, he's clearly not a long-term asset due to his age. But, hey, with the Leastern teams doing so little this offseason, who knows, Juwan may be just the thing the Magic need to break into the Top 4 Eastern teams. Who do you pick for the playoff contenders out East this year? Think Philly will do as well sans Coach Brown?
I think the Magic will hang around the top, and probably Detroit. New Jersey might make a little noise. Other than that though - it's pretty open. I think after the first 10 or so games, there might be a better idea of where everyone is settling in and who decides to play this year. Out west though, man - it is getting heavy out there. I'm starting to like Dallas a little - although I have always been a huge Spurs fan (of course, no more Robinson, Elliot or Rodman).
